Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow
This public talk presented a photography-based project that I conducted in 2014 looking at how young people perceive everyday encounters of surveillance in Glasgow. Drawing on pictures provided by participants as well as group discussions, this talk critically discussed everyday surveillance as experienced by participants and its normalisation in our contemporary society. It engaged with debates about participation, digital technologies, (dis)empowerment and the wider contributions of participatory photography to research.
